Common questions about satellite container tracking
Yes. Gateway satellite tracking is included with every shipment we move for our customers. It is not a standalone product and is not offered to the general public. Submit your company details on this page and a Gateway rep will reach out within one business day to open your account.
No. Gateway Lines is itself an ocean freight forwarder and NVOCC, so onboarding other forwarders, NVOCCs, customs brokers, 3PLs, agents, or resellers would be a direct conflict of interest and expose our customers' shipment data, rates, and lane information to misuse. We only accept cargo owners (importers and exporters shipping their own goods).
Satellite container tracking uses orbital AIS (Automatic Identification System) satellites to track vessel positions from space in real-time. Unlike traditional port-based tracking that only updates when ships reach ports, satellite tracking provides continuous position updates every 5–10 minutes anywhere in the world, including mid-ocean.
Every container we move for you is automatically enrolled in satellite tracking from the moment it is gated in at origin. You see live vessel position, AI-predicted ETA, port congestion, customs status, Last Free Day countdowns and milestone alerts directly in your Gateway portal, no lookups required.
Satellite AIS tracking is highly accurate, providing vessel positions within meters. Our orbital satellite constellation captures AIS signals every 5–10 minutes globally, combined with AI analysis for 93%+ accurate ETA predictions.
Yes. Gateway customers see every active container in a single dashboard with real-time satellite positions, customs status and automated alerts for each shipment.
