01 The company

Who we are

Gateway Lines is a US ocean freight forwarder and NVOCC. We are digital-first, with white-glove service: every customer has an account executive who runs their shipments, and a portal for tracking and documents if they want one.

Gateway was founded in early 2022 and incorporated in early 2023.

We are a licensed NVOCC: we act as the carrier without owning the vessels. We buy space on container ships, issue our own bills of lading and take responsibility for the move from pickup to delivery, so you deal with one company instead of a chain of brokers.

The Gateway network reaches Haifa, Israel; Long Beach, California; Bradenton, Florida; and New York, New York.

02 The service

How we work

An account executive for every customer

One person knows your shipments, answers your emails and calls, and handles the booking, the paperwork and anything that goes wrong along the way.

A portal, if you want it

Live tracking, documents, invoices and a duty estimate for every shipment, in one login that is free to customers. It is optional: customers who prefer email and phone get the same service.

03 The freight

What we move

Full container (FCL)

20- and 40-foot containers, standard and high-cube.

Less than container (LCL)

Shipments that do not fill a container, priced by volume and weight.

Air freight

For cargo that cannot wait for a ship.

Drayage

Trucking between the port or rail ramp and your door.

Project cargo

Oversized, heavy and multi-container moves, planned end to end.

Rail

Inland legs by rail for containers going beyond the port.

Warehousing and transloading

Short-term storage and transloading, with daily, weekly and monthly rates for space. We don’t own the warehouses. They’re partners in the Gateway network and run on our systems, so you get the same updates as on every other move.

04 In the open

Pricing in the open

We are all about transparency. Most forwarders keep their prices behind a quote request; we post rates to the public, on four boards that anyone can read:

Ocean freight spot rates

oceanrates.gatewaylines.com

Air freight rates

air.gatewaylines.com

Drayage rate estimates

drayrates.gatewaylines.com

Keep in mind these are spot rates: what the market charges on a lane, read on the date each board shows. They are a starting point, not a quote.

For a quote on a confirmed shipment, or contracted pricing per lane if you ship regular volume, email sales@gatewaylines.com.

Customs is priced the same way: $149 per ocean entry for brokerage by a licensed customs broker, plus a $75 Gateway customs coordination fee. See every customs fee

05 How billing works

How billing works

A US company, US dollar invoices

Gateway Lines is a US company. Every invoice is issued in US dollars.

Four ways to pay

Wire transfer, ACH, Zelle or PayCargo. At this time we do not accept checks.

New customers start on COD

New customers start on cash on delivery (COD) while they build a short shipping history with us. Instant credit is the exception, for companies with a long credit history.

Credit grows with the relationship

As that history builds, we extend credit as needed, with terms up to Net 30.

It protects us both: credit follows the relationship instead of running ahead of it.

06 Recent moves

Recent shipments

Two examples from our customers, with their names left out.

31 containers of modular homes

A real estate investment company building a new development moved 31 containers of modular mini homes with Gateway, a mix of 20-foot and 40-foot standard containers, from China to Phoenix, Arizona.

Candy, every month

A US candy supplier ships with Gateway every month from Istanbul, China and the United Kingdom, in 20-foot standard and 40-foot high-cube containers.

Most of our customers are small brands with global reach, thanks to Gateway. Others come to us for a single move, and some national brands ship with us during their freight RFP season.

07 The network

Our partner network

ClearitUSA

Licensed US customs broker in the Gateway network, filing customs entries for Gateway shipments.

Loadsure

Cargo insurance. Gateway Shield, the cover offered when you book, is placed through Loadsure.

FincoEnergies

Carbon insetting partner behind Ship Green, which cuts shipping emissions inside the ocean supply chain through Book and Claim.

Gateway Lines will never ask you, by email alone, to send payment to a new bank account. If our bank details ever change, the notice comes from updates@gatewaylines.com months in advance, followed by a phone call from us. Nothing changes overnight.

If you receive any other email about a change to our bank details, do not send payment. Forward it to stopfraud@gatewaylines.com.
